I am currently working on a total remake of the MyBB website. It will feature a brand new design and brand new content. I have already progressed quite far, but before I can continue I need feedback from you, MyBB users. My questions to you (which I ask you to answer by replying to this thread) are these:
  1. What do you think of the MyBB website as a whole?
  2. What is missing on the MyBB website? (What would you like to see on it?)
  3. What is on the MyBB website that should not be there? (And where should it be?)
  4. What do you find logical/not logical about the navigation and page hierarchy on the MyBB website?
  5. Do you feel the MyBB website fits the MyBB "brand image"?
  6. Do you have any other comments about the MyBB website?
I thank you in advance for answering these questions, which will help me develop a better website.

Regards,
Peter

  1. I like it. What I don't like is the lack of updates (still having the PR2 theme) and the "empty-ness." There are hardly any reasons why I should use it - the "Key Features" really don't say much:
    Quote: * Fast and Efficient
    * Easy to Install!
    * Template Based Design
    * Language System
    * No Limits!
    I think one of the key features should be that it's free. It only says free once on the homepage, unless it's in a testimonial as well. (mentioning testimonials, there was once a nice thread requesting for those, but only one got added Rolleyes)
  2. More information, more reasons why I should use it. I also think there should be some sort of demo - most likely, just link to the one at OpenSourceCMS, as they already have one Smile I also think the features list is missing a LOT of features that MyBB has, especially 1.2.
  3. I don't see anything that I think shouldn't be there... except for the PR2 look, and that should be in the trash Toungue
  4. I like it how it is now - I really like the organization of it, and I really don't think that should change at all...
  5. Not at all! As I mentioned, it's still using the "PR2 look" and not the 1.x look. I think some people are thrown off when they look at that website, and then either install or come to the community forums...
  6. Nope, I don't think so Big Grin
Referring to 2 & 3:

The page to download themes is still empty. If there are no plans to fill the page with themes in the near future it should be removed as it is unnecessary.

What is necessary is a page with the license as it is missing for quite a while now. Rolleyes
Maybe you should add a Demo Board with full Admin access that users can try out. Have it reset every hour or something.

There is one on OpenSourceCMS.com and the new site links to it.

Good suggestions, keep them coming!
A contact form would be good with options to report security issues / general questions.
The link from MyBB to MyBB MODs should not be placed in the forum ? It should be placed in the website itself.
It's actually already on the main website: http://www.mybboard.com/downloads.php

Click "MyBB Modifications" on the menu or see the section on the right sidebar.
This is fairly old but I'll answer.

As whole I think it's very promising, certain things I do think could be improved to make it more user friendly such as the download section but overall I do like it. (especially the currant look)

Missing? In my opinion nothing or at least what I can think of.

[quote]What is on the MyBB website that should not be there? (And where should it be?)[quote]
Again something I don't feel is an issue.

[quote]What do you find logical/not logical about the navigation and page hierarchy on the MyBB website?[quote]
Personally I'd prefer to see contact in the actual nav and not the side section, I also find it slightly irritating to browse through the side section to get to "report licence violation". Having said that I do prefer it over how it used to be, easier to find etc.

[quote]Do you feel the MyBB website fits the MyBB "brand image"?
I think the site goes in nicely, although I personally wished the forum matched the site and went into a the site. (not stand alone) That's just because I prefer that though, but yes the site suites MyBB.

Well everything going to improve so I guess not, although I do wish the download section more advanced and nicer looking. (just my opinion) Smile

Good job
You realize this thread is almost a year old.
