I cannot understand why I can go months with occasional spam registrations, and then all of a sudden I get a rash of them on both of my myBB websites.

I currently use Akismet and Goodbye Spammer.

So I start banning IP addresses. It seems like that somehow triggers even more registration attempts. Not sure if that is my imagination, but it sure seems to happen that way.

Does anyone else see a recent increase in spam registrations?

Interesting, I have noticed if I block an IP from India I get a lot more attempted registrations from India.

Also on a side note I have noticed I get more attempted registrations from Russia if I have a link to my forum in my profile on here. I remove it and they drop off, hence no link in my profile.

I bet someone knows why that happens. It makes me quite angry.
