If you want the new posts to have a dark image, you can try creating one yourself and overwrite images/on.gif and if you want no new posts to show shaded image, you can also do it yourself and overwrite images/off.gif

Yeah, I recently created mine. Just took one of the images from my main site for the on.gif and then made it 50% transparent for the off.gif. I think it's pretty cool!
Was that all you needed? To know where the images were? If you don't want to make your own, just find another theme you like and "borrow" theirs. I've also done that!

Just make sure you're giving the theme author credit. . .
