Yes, but then your members wouldn't really have a way to go back (besides the back button on their browser or to click on one of your header links). Since if you remove it from one page you'll have to remove it from all (unless you just specifically edit the portal's templates and replace {nav} with just a link to "TheTechCenter" or so.)

Or in your header template, delete <navigation>
