Hi, my forum contains alot of youtube videos, so I want to setup a TOS page, that users have to accept to continue use of the forum.
I'm worried about audio copyright, so I want to say "I wont post that stuff" etc, obviously shortened. But is there a way I can do this with a page or plugin, for the WHOLE site, not just individual forums? Even for members that have already registered, not just editing the reg. agreement?
Do you mean displaying rules with an accept button each time somebody posts?

If thats what you mean do:
AdminCP> Forum & Post > Click on option (for the specific forum/category) > edit forum

Now scroll down to forum rules: Add the rules you want users to see (your TOS). After that set the display method:
  • Dont display
  • Display rules on thread listing
  • Display rules on thread listing and in new replies/threads
  • Display a link to the rules for this forum. (A link to the TOS page for example)

For your example i think you want to take the 3rd option. But i never used these so i have on idea if this is what you are looking for or exactly what these do.
My only issue, is I need them to agree, so I can't be help liable :3

You said you integrate youtube videos right?

How can you be held liable then, you dont host the music/videos. Isnt it then youtube who is held liable.

Huh

Also they agree to it when signing up (atleast you can change that to suite your needs) Which should cover you being held liable i think. But im not sure have no clue how copyright stuff works.

I would need to read that article about copyright. For the accept thingie maybe there is a pluging anybody knows about that could achieve what you wish.

Did find one thing, as long as the video's are from Youtube you are free to embed them into your side as long as you dont make money of these videos (so embedding is fine, but purely copying youtube for example wouldnt be). And youtube already takes care of most of the unallowed content.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2007/07/yo...-copyright a good link with some extra information. But i have read some articles from 2011 suggesting that in the US doing this with a bill(have no idea if this passed) Would become illegal.

Also check this page out:

In the end i think your safe, since a youtube embed is nothing more then a link. And youtube actively scans/removes content that is not allowed so it would break the link on your site to if it was removed (this video is no longer available etc.).
