If possible, it would be nice for the member to be able to pick the way the threads of a forum(section) are ordered, for example "ones with newest porsts first"(as it already is), or by popularity, or by thread creation date.
The admin would be able to choose a default orderings of the threads, and the options members would have displayed.
It's a good idea but most of the admins prefer newest first.

I prefer newest too as well, but as a default. It's best for maintaining active discussions. But if members likes to search for the most high quality content, I'd like that to be available to them as well. So far sticky index threads work, but I'd really like to see something more efficient. I mean, even porn sites have the option to choose to view content by popularity, rating, or newness.
If new sorting options are to get added, why not also do one that lists them alphabetically?

Possibly how many stars it has?
Unless I've misunderstood, you're asking for a feature that already exists:
- Click here
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Use "Sort by" and "Order" options at bottom of page.
You can also click on the column titles to reorder based on that.
