Make sure your FTP client is overwriting the files on the server. This is 99% of the time the solution.
You can confirm by editing ./inc/class_core.php on the server and check the version information. It should say 1.6.7.

The version that is displayed to you is read from one of the core files. If it's still saying 1.6.6, then you haven't replaced all the files with 1.6.7's. I don't know what else could be causing this.

Delete /install/ folder and upload it again. If it now says 1.6.7 then you haven't overwritten the files properly. (This will also be the case for other files that you need to overwrite.)

If you're upgrading from 1.6.6 you only need the changed files package, not the full package.
I've just upgraded a forum from 1.6.6 to 1.6.7 without problem, there's nothing wrong with the 1.6.7 package.

Of course you can use the full package but it's not necessary, you only need the changed files.
