can somebody improve the portal page adding some options and features? i think 2 features are very necesary:
- Move blocks arround portal page (block position top, bottom, left or right).
- Trim the post content that is showing like a news... (examble: Hello World! thes is a test test test... CLICK HERE TO READ MORE)
i know theres are plug ins for both, but they are a bit incomplete...

if you just want to move boxes around, just modify the template. if you want new content in said blocks, then you use pro-portal plugin, or just edit the portal.php file directly.
maybe its just me, but you dont need a plugin for everything

Oh while this is true, you also have to admit the fact that the standard portal.php in MyBB is far from great.
It lacks many features in my opinion. The biggest one the simplest ability to create custom boxes. That could be added anywhere on the portal(using the portal template).
Yes you dont have to include the option to reagrange since its alread there.
But to use that probably it would need the option for customboxes. So you could add them the same way as currently is done (welcomebox etc). By just inserting one line in the portal template.
custom boxes in the standard portal are no different than custom boxes in pro-portal. with pro-portal you need to create a file with the code you want and then specify that file for the box.
with patches plugin, you can do that same with the regular portal by inserting your code and then adding the template variable.

And there used to be a portal mod. Called ProPortal but thats not longer maintained.

For the suggestion well i would like it but not sure if it will happen before 2.0 but we can always hope 1.8 brings improvements.
Thanks for reply, yeah! i am talking about those plugins! proportal is great but sadly there no more support from developer or others developers, and i am using Announcement cut off plug in so time ago but... did you test it? does not handle codes tags very well, just cut it in the middle and the Announcement look like this:

i am testing proportal and its seem cover my 2 needs, News cut off and block re-arragment! the only issue that i read from the forums was that proportal dosn´t support youtube very well but with automedia installed its look like working perfect!!
