I am running a very old version of mybb & I want to upgrade it. I have never done any upgrades in past, so I have no idea how to upgrade.
Secondly, I have made numerous changes in template files & half of them I don't even remember. Will I be losing them ? How to prevent it ?

You will find Updated templates in your ACP and you will see which one you changed, make backup of them for just in case something goes wrong. (copy them to notepad). And just uprade it. Nothing is gonna happend to your templates for to be sure it's free so do it

okay, I took back up for Updated Templates.
btw what happens to theme ? do I need to update any theme files also ?
The theme should be fine.
