I have my forum stored in
www.mydomain.co.uk/forum.
I've read the wiki on how to get SEFs but it says that the htaccess file must be in the root. I have joomla stored in the root which also has a .htaccess file.
How do I make it so that they both work? I can only find instructions for when the forum is in the root folder.
Just to add that at the moment they are showing as
www.mydomain.co.ukforum/thread-369.html
I want them to show as
www.icklebits.co.uk/forum/thread-title or something similar.

I dont know how to resolve this but a good way is to maybe show us how the current .htaccess file looks. So people who do know it can help you out better.
In this case, root means the forum root, so your .htaccess file needs to be in the ./forum folder.
If you want keywords in your URL's you'll need the
Google SEO plugin.
