Unless you're using some sort of plugin to format the usernames on the index, that's how MyBB works. By default it doesn't format the usernames on the forum index.

By default, there is no username styling on index. You've to install this plugin: http://mods.mybb.com/view/username-style , see my review on the reviews page aswell for editing / modifying the plugin.
