Hello,

I was wondering if somebody could help me understand why I am getting the following error when trying to access the installer:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/nette0/public_html/forum/inc/class_core.php on line 18

I am trying to run the installer at www.nettelpartners.com/forum/install

I have followed the instructions to the letter, and don't know where to turn from here.

Is there anyone who wouldn't mind helping a newb??

You need PHP 5.1+ to run MyBB 1.6

The issue is due to the old version of PHP. Try to contact to your host and ask them to upgrade their PHP version to atleast 5.1

THANK YOU!! I was able to find a "Use PHP5" option on my hosting control panel and that did it for me!
