Much of our user / visitor tracking is based on IP addresses. Since more and more people are switching to IPv6 (see the thread on IP 0) MyBB needs to store and compare against these as well as IPv6.
I believe MyBB is going to be better with 6 in version 1.8, IIRC.
MyBB 1.8 will fully support the IPv6 protocol, as will 2.0.
Yeah, MyBB 1.8 will be the solution to this.

I'm so happy now.
By beginning of 2013 I hope to be 100% IPv6 compatible across my services. I'll try to be an early adopter and be ahead of the curve.
IPv4 is practically done.
Oh..and FYI Cloudflare makes IPv6 setup even easier.

I never got CloudFlare's IPv6 to work. Everything should be set up properly, as my host is a CF certified partner and everything runs through their cPanel/WHM plugin.
