I've been dealing with these errors for a while now and I'm really starting to get sick of them.

First let me get you folks a nice little copy/paste of the error I get...

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Second let me say that I've emailed our host several times and they assure me that even though I didn't start getting these errors till after they changed their servers, it is in no way something they did on their end and there's an issue with our site.

Third, the only thing we've got "installed" is MyBB. There are no other "softwares" running. And I have tried fresh installations and we still get the same errors.

Fourth, the reason the host says we're getting these errors is our memory usage. It'll go from something like 10-30 kb up to 500+ mb in a matter of about 2 seconds, and then it'll hang out at the 500+ mb range for however long it seems to feel like.

Fifth, our site has pretty low traffic. It's not like there's 200 users on and visiting the site all at once. We also are pretty light on plugin usage. I've turned them all off and tested that and we were still getting errors.

Finally and lastly, the host is no help at all. Their "support" was basically "Try turning this one off, wait a couple days and email us back." So I'm turning to the one place I've always found to have really good support... here.

I've popped over to my cPanel and have taken a look at the error logs and they're all a variation of this one...

...Now I'm no expert (not by a long shot) but the 'File not found" just looks like a general 404's type thing to me... right? The page it's trying to find does indeed exist, I get the errors when I'm just clicking around the site or using out shoutbox. (I did disable the shoutbox for about 3 days and we still got the errors by the way.)

Any ideas? This is driving me, and the members, nuts.

Could you possibly post the full error log just so I can take a quick look through it. Any 500 Internal Server Errors caused by MyBB should be logged in the server error log. If they're not, that's down to your host and makes debugging the issue a lot more difficult.

They're kinda ll over the place, but it's all basically the same thing... or at least it looks like it to me and my very untrained eye.

The one thing I can see that would be causing the 500 Internal Server Error is this one:

Cannot allocate memory: couldn't create child process: ...

This is down to your host though for definite as it's a problem with the actual server setup.

There in lies my problem. Getting them to fix it is like pulling teeth... then putting them all back in.

They are no help at all. I'll give it another crack though.

Do you mind me asking who it is you're hosted with? Just out of curiosity.

Most of the times, plugin can cause these errors. But as you say you've tried disabling them and still getting, that possibility is now eradicated.

Also checking up your logs, its very much possible its something to do with host, most probably.

If they keep on refusing, you might want to actually consider a new host.

We're with GreenGeeks. Used em for a couple years and they were great. No down times, price was good, they were actually helpful when we needed them to be.

Now their #1 sollution is "Throw us some more money and maybe it'll go away. We can't say for sure."

I've been very unhappy with them lately. We'd change but we paid for multiple years and are kinda stuck. Thus we haven't changed hosts yet.

I didn't mention it before cause I'd all but forgot this but we actually took the site down completely for about 3 days. Changed the directories and all that so nothing could be accessed by anymore but me and just put up an "under construction" type html page and we were still getting the errors.

Ah, I see the problem. That's why I only ever pay for a year at the maximum and usually prefer to pay by monthly instalments. I'm pretty sure the problem's down to the host though I'm afraid.

That's what I've been thinking/saying/trying to get them to even consider for months. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't something I was missing, and since I get better tech support here than I do anywhere else I figured I'd give it a shot.
