Lies. 1.8 is really 2.0 in disguise. Toungue

This whole time you've just been pulling our leg.

Because at the rate we're changing 1.8, it is turning more and more into a major feature update rather than the soft, subtle and cuddly toy it is meant to be.

is possible then in 2.0 ?

2.0 will most certainly use PNG images as default.

Animated Gifs are one reason. I prefer PNG but I'm just telling you a GIF advantage.

Yeah, I always was asking myself why MyBB seems to be a very "dynamic" software. Thanks to you I know the answer. It's because of the hundreds of animated gifs used in a vanilla installation, trololol.

1.8 really needs to last at least 2-3 years IMO, so a bit more of an upgrade is necessary.

This, even if we have to wait longer for the new version will be worth it.
I have "converted" my community framework to PNG graphics about a year ago.
It pays every day you look at it.

Animated GIFs would be the only reason, if themes usually had any animations at all, man.

It's like hindering 99% because of 1%.

AJAX LOADER?!

On topic though, personally for transparent images I always use .png, but for non-transparent (small web elements) I check which size is the lowest, cos the quality is the same.

You could use PNG animations. Most of the modern browsers will load them and old browsers just see the first frame. Obviously you'd want to minimise the amount of PNG animations you want to use because you have to have a new image for each frame.
