I had set up the forum on a different domain name until the proper desired domain name gets propagated.

I had copied the entire directory to the new domain since its ready now. then I ran the upgrade after removing the lock. It asked me to login my admin username and password. It does not work?

The database is backed up and saved on both server and my computer.

I will be using the same database not creating a new one. So the config file will still be the same. Everything is on the same server/host.

Or am i doing this wrong way?

You've to change the URL and cookie path in AdminCP > Configurations > General Configurations.
