Once you have created the database and made sure all files are uploaded and CHMODded correctly, then go to http://[[yourforumurl]]/install . Run through the wizard until you complete everything.
Then upload the MyBB Merge system ( http://www.mybb.com/downloads/merge-system ) to your forum root. After that, go to http://[[yourforumurl]]/merge . (IIRC)
Enter the database details of the SMF database and then the tools will need to be run in order by dependencies, which will be listed on the tools page.
