Is there any way to remove the generator text at the bottom of the page.

its only visible to the admins of the site, but if you want to remove it

ACP > Configuration > Settings > Server and Optimization Options > Advanced Stats / Debug information

ACP » Configuration » Server and Optimization Options.

Scroll down until you see Advanced Stats / Debug information and tick no.
