It would actually be very useful if the principle of filtering by a start letter was possible.

For example, in forum display get all thread subjects beginning with P
With xThreads you can change the default sorting on a per-forum basis, e.g.: http://harajuju.net/Forum-Brand-Directory
That is sorting though Brad. I know how to sort in XThreads. I know how to filter on custom fields too.

What I don't know how to do is to filter by the first letter of a thread subject.

I don't want to add a custom field that says "what letter do you want this to be sorted by" as that is kind of daft.

maybe I could make it a hidden field that sort of GRABS the first letter and at least it will feel automated. Hmm.

Actually, I shall try this:

Did it work for you Leefish?

is from 2009 for myBB 1.4 so... considering all the problems I've been having recently with supposedly 1.4 to 1.6 updated plugins, I'm reluctant to try it (oh man, and I do mean problems, epic fail at every turn)
Nope, it did not work. Well, it did, but only after a bit of fiddling. It is not really any use to me as it stands as it would mean me completely rewriting it to get it to work. I am also not totally keen on the way that it works.
I was not replying to your idea, LeeFish. I was replying to brigarkee.

Oh, ok, it was not clear without a quote or name reference.

Thanks anyway.
