I was thinking to making a plugin, and saw that NewPoints use a great user-friendly admin panel system.

So I was thinking if I was allowed to use some code from his plugin to my plugin?

As long as I still give him credit?

You can freely use the code. And you don't have to give credit, but it's definitely a good idea to credit the original author anyway.

I will leave the credit there anyways, as Nervo Pirata is one of my favorite plugin developers.

Pretty sure you just need to use the same license or a compatible one.
