Hi everybody,

If you are interested in merge myBB and question2answer, follow this tutorial :

0. First, have this architecture :

your_mybb_folder/
your_mybb_folder/question2answer

(so the folder question2answer must be inside the MyBB's folder)

1. follow their tutorial for external integration.
2. When you need to edit the file qa_external-users.php, you can take this one (no edit needed) :

/*
	===========================================================================
	YOU MUST MODIFY THIS FUNCTION, BUT CAN DO SO AFTER Q2A CREATES ITS DATABASE
	===========================================================================

	You should return an array containing URLs for the login, register and logout pages on
	your site. These URLs will be used as appropriate within the Q2A site.

	You may return absolute or relative URLs for each page. If you do not want one of the links
	to show, omit it from the array, or use null or an empty string.

	If you use absolute URLs, then return an array with the URLs in full (see example 1 below).

	If you use relative URLs, the URLs should start with $relative_url_prefix, followed by the
	relative path from the root of the Q2A site to your login page. Like in example 2 below, if
	the Q2A site is in a subdirectory, $relative_url_prefix.'../' refers to your site root.

	Now, about $redirect_back_to_url. Let's say a user is viewing a page on the Q2A site, and
	clicks a link to the login URL that you returned from this function. After they log in using
	the form on your main site, they want to automatically go back to the page on the Q2A site
	where they came from. This can be done with an HTTP redirect, but how does your login page
	know where to redirect the user to? The solution is $redirect_back_to_url, which is the URL
	of the page on the Q2A site where you should send the user once they've successfully logged
	in. To implement this, you can add $redirect_back_to_url as a parameter to the login URL
	that you return from this function. Your login page can then read it in from this parameter,
	and redirect the user back to the page after they've logged in. The same applies for your
	register and logout pages. Note that the URL you are given in $redirect_back_to_url is
	relative to the root of the Q2A site, so you may need to add something.

3. Now, create a new file called load_user.php into question2answer folder :
(In my example, usergroup = 4 admin, 10 = moderator, change this value if necessary)
 <?php
 	ini_set( "display_errors", 0);

    session_start();
	define("IN_MYBB", 0);
    define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'question2answer.php');
    require_once "../global.php";

	$_SESSION['pseudo'] = $mybb->user['username'];
	$_SESSION['email'] =  $mybb->user['email'];

	if ($mybb->user['usergroup'] == 4)
		$_SESSION['access']="admin";
	else if ($mybb->user['usergroup'] == 10)
		$_SESSION['access']="moderator";
	else
		$_SESSION['access']="user";

?>

4. Edit question2answer/index.php and add at the top of the file, after the <?, this :
if (!stristr($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'], 'question2answer')) {
	include ("load_user.php");
}

5. It's finish ! You just need to add a link to your forum to the question2answer :-)

That's all !

since I have q2a in sub dir /qa, i replaced question2answer in your tutorial to qa, since the subdirectory I installed q2a is /qa

any idea what I am doing wrong? and how to fix it
Hello,

Where is you global.php ?

Because the q2a folder must be INSIDE your mybb folder (in order to find the global.php by require_once("../global.php")

Hello,

It's stange because I checked and I have the same code.
Maybe is your ' and your " which were not the "normal" or "standard" one and could make this bug.

Try to remove this part and to retype it (maybe a bug in copy/paste) or try to use require_once instead include... even if must not be that problem.

no change, still the same error
I'm sorry I have clearly no idea. Maybe you can contact the creator of q2a directly. If you solve this problem, please write the solution on this topic.

Good luck.

I will if I get it done.
Thanks for your time
I Made a folder name "question" in place of "question2answer"
Do I need to change something in the code

I know it's an old thread but anyone else having the same problem might like to read:

Your directory structure is wrong, it clearly say's that your Q2A folder must be INSIDE your MYBB folder.
From your post, you're saying that both folders are separate.

If for example your MYBB folder has been extracted to Public_html then your structure should be:

Public_html/ALL-MYBB-FILES/question2answerfolder/
It doesn't matter what name you give to the question2answer folder as long as it's inside your MYBB folder.

Another example might be, if you have a homepage, say index.php which is NOT part of MYBB or Q2A:

Go to your public_html folder you should have your standard website filles then a folder for MYBB.
Open the MYBB folder and extract Q2A INSIDE it.

Once more for clarity, you should see something like this in your public_html folder
Folders:
Images
otherwebsitefolders
MYBB

Files:
index.php
other.php

When you go to the MYBB folder you should have all the MYBB files AND the Q2A folder.
