When I add to my navigation bar it only allows me to travel to pages on the forum. When I type in a normal hyperlink it redirects to, 'www.example.com/forums/www.linkiwanthere.com

I want it to go to

www.linkiwanthere.com

Can someone please help me?

Have you put http:// in front of the www bit on the link?
