How do I make it so that guests can open up a forum and see the threads, but not open the threads themselves? If I set their permissions to not be able to view, it just ends up hiding the entire thing.

Will this work for other user groups as well? I want to make it so that this is in effect for Awaiting Activation members as well.

I use this plug-in which allows only a certain amount of views before you need to register. I found this to be very effective for my forum. You can set the amount of views before unregistered users are informed of the register requirement tool.

There is a tutorial to allow guests to see the topics and not access posts, for instance:
forum> topic ( Sandy makes a flag ) they can read the title but when trying to access the post they are directed to sign up.
