Yes, just make it available to be viewed/used by admins only. Then test to your hearts delight. Those setting are in the theme section, click the theme in question and scroll down to select only your admin usergroup. Enjoy

AdminCP > Theme > Your new theme > edit > and CTRL + select your usergroup from the "Allowed User Groups" list.
Next, go to: UserCP > Edit options > and select the theme from the "Board Style:" dropdown list.
