Currently there are not settings for the plugin, and I doubt there will be any day.

Note: For those thinking about optimization, this plugin needs to run an extra query.

... I suppose, maybe. But I tend to write my plugins to look according to the default theme. A template is used by the plugin anyways and it adds a variable to a existing template that you can move around it, so you can customize as much as you want to
