Where do I find it to change it?

I'm a beginner and do the basics of the basics.

I have access to ftp. I've been looking around the Admin CP under Templates where to change it but I can't find thead_bg.gif to change it to thead_bg.png

Did you uploaded a icon and you can not find the option to change the thead_bg.gif to png?

It would be in the themes under global css. The thead class.
