How do you add stuff to the portal? Like how do you add news?

What exactly do you mean by news?

The portal just shows 'announcements' from a particular forum. You can define everything to do with it in the portal settings

So I make an announcement forum and anything I post in there will go to the portal?

Yes. Even those posts made by normal users.

So how extacty does it work? Do I just post a topic and it would go there or what?

Yes, like any other normal thread, just post it and you are done.

Well my portal is empty, so how do I get it to go there then, and how do I make certain ones go there?

Admincp -> Configuration -> Settings -> Portal Settings -> Forum ID to pull announcements from
