I'm in the process of optimizing my forum and scanning the site using google's page speed.

when running my site through its tool, it's telling me to leverage browser caching for the following files as they have short freshness lifetime:

and it also tells me to add gzip or deflate compression. I have gzip enabled as host monster says it doesn't allow deflate compression.

this is what it's telling me I should gzip:

is there anything I can do to make it better or address the stuff it mentions directly?

when I try to have gzip enabled through the .htaccess file and through mybb in the admin cp, it produced garbage text, so I disabled the mybb gzip compression.

huh, no suggestions?
