Hello. I have searched this forum and only found one thread dealing with the subject and it did not address my problem.

My install url is http://www.restoreshamrock.org/forum

The captcha is not showing up on regestration. I have checked the chmod of the cache folder, it is right, the captcha is set to default in settings and the hidden captcha is set to no.
I get no input field and no captcha, only a blank space where it should be.

I tried the simple captcha plugin, while it did bring up the input field, the captcha box is missing the image.

Any ideas would be very helpful.

I'm getting a 500 Internal Server Error.

Is your htaccess file named .htaccess or htaccess.txt? If it's named .htaccess, could you please try rename it to htaccess.txt to see if that solves the issue.

The file is htaccess.txt and is in the /forum dir as apposed to the public_html.

Note, there is no . before the htaccess, most scripts that call the file (use to) call .htaccess from public_html or even root dir. I understand things change quickly in this business and I may well have missed a lot having been out of the game for a while, so I await the next reply.

Another note, smf script is installed on another website on the server and the captcha works fine for that one, I am thinking I may be missing something in the config of the mybb script?
