May I know what are the changes in template system of MyBB 1.8, I am coding some free themes for MyBB 1.6. When 1.8 comes out how many changes I need to make to the theme to make it compatible with 1.8?

As far as I can remember, the final theme for 1.8 isn't quite ready yet so it's hard to say. There will be a beta period though so you'll be able to make any necessary changes then.
