Maybe you could look at the mybb integrator class.

There is a project, it is supposed to make it possible to extend your mybb installation. I know it can be used to use wordpress logins for mybb.

Okay got the task working, don't know if it is good though because the task syncs profile data which COULD cause server load to sky rocket.

well, you can only try.Have you tested it with new registrations/activate email/lost pass etc etc?

It first searches for and adds the users that doesn't exist, then it copies profile data and some settings. On a small site like mine it is not a bis issue, but imagine a board with a few thousand users like here.

Currently writing a plugin to set settings for this, like high index to save the last use id read from my main site.

Very cool, indeed, it might be a bit much for a big board - like you say. It depends on how many members you expect to have, and you are the best judge of that.

Adding a plugin like i said, it will record the last index synced and users will have to push a button in the UCP to sync profiles. That should reduce the load.
