At the top of this forum there's a big announcement bar telling us to follow it, but the twitter is really inactive. You could easily use that to showcase good new MyBB forums in my opinion or great new plugins, free themes and of course support. At the moment it's just there doing nothing and never being updated.

I've just realised the Facebook one too, the same thing applies there.
They could just install MyBBPublisher and let it update those sites for them
The Twitter account is used to post important news and updates, for example when the site is offline or when a new release is available. We don't want it to be clogged up with random plugins and themes.

There are already unofficial Twitter accounts which post new plugins/themes/issues/threads/etc. to Twitter.

It would be better than a dead twitter account.

I understand that Nathan, but why does that mean the official site twitter can't include things like appreciation for new boards? I'm not saying tweet every single theme and plugin out there and you know that. You can use it for so much more, just interacting with those who use MyBB, or tweets like this.

Meh, it might just be me, but it can definitely be a great place to announce and interact.
I believe we do use something to push new threads to the feed (not sure if we use MyBBPublisher or an external service). An official @MyBBSupport account could be cool though and I'd be well up for it.

That would be ideal, though I still think it should include more "community type" (don't know the word for it) tweets. For example, let's say brad is a new member and he just showed us Harajuju, you could tweet "This is what MyBB is capable of. Look at this:" etc. I dunno, I just think it would be cool. It's become a popular trend with most companies, and although this isn't a company, it's still an active community.
It could be but I seem to recall a problem with the actual Twitter logon details...

Well you could have it with a tweet to email program. No one who tweeted as a member would know the password then. Wouldn't by that hard to code either.
I actually wrote a system for wedesignthe.net that allows staff members and allowed usergroups to tweet to the site account via the forum. Maybe we could use it here though obviously the staff would have to decide that they wanted to actually follow this course of action.
I'm not really a "twitter" person so I hardly ever post on there, some of the PR team do occasionally, but maybe one of the other team members who is a more frequent twitter user can keep it a bit more up to date (any volunteers?).
