So, I have a Godaddy SMTP server setup in my outgoing board mail settings, however when the forum sends something, it sends it from "unknown sender". Any ideas?

This is a SMTP server issue, MyBB only uses the SMTP protocol you have setup.
The Unknown sender sounds like the email provider/service you're using don't recognize the IP/Domain it's sent from.
Have you set your board name correctly? It's most likely an issue with how your host sets the sender header when sending via SMTP - you may have to ask them about the issue.

How do I check to see if I set the board name correctly?
