Description: My current theme includes a sidebar and I would like to add a few things into it, such as new posts and a little profile widget. How exactly do I add these?

I do not need plugins, I need content that I can add into my sidebar, which already exists. I want to add widgets INTO the sidebar, which can be edited via templates & style > index .
For example a Xenforo forum. It has new posts, profile and other widgets inside the sidebar.

If you mean the portal side bar then its Admin Control Panel -> Templates & Style ->Tempates -> Your theme -> portal templates and one will say something like nav or sidebar
