I'm searching the internet but not finding a whole lot.

Pmd you - Tecca has some NICE themes - and you can change the colors about a bit.

My tips -

Less header links
Remove the search bar (Filter Forum)
Get more color
Better forum structure, it doesn't catch the eye very well

I think you do need a newer theme. I mean, a more modern theme.
