There should be a setting in the Admin CP to have them as Next Newest/Oldest or the actual thread names
PS I know Polarbear541 made a plugin for it:

Sorry mate but, i believe every time i am trying to post my suggestion they say its will be plugin no need for this, so in fact i can see its a plugin so no need to add it in next mybb version.

Yeah but that plugin keeps the next newest and oldest text but has the thread name next to it

You suggest everything that has been rejected millions of times before and that should be separate from forum software. This however, relates to core functionality.
