How does it work? How do I add different background for each group?

So how do I put post to right side and posts/thanks/rep and stuff to left side where that background is?

Are you using a custom theme? If so, how does it look on the mybb default theme? If it is ok on the default then it is your template. You can also try just changing the background - color first, see if that helps.
Yes its custom theme I downloaded, colors didn't work eather.

I kind of removed the default theme so don't know. But is there other way to get that background correcly without a plugin?
well, first thing - it is a good idea to not remove the default theme as you can always use that to check plugins etc. That way you know if it is your theme or your plugin that is failing.
It is possible to get that effect without a plugin, but you need to be quite good at css and your HTML needs to be valid. The plugin does work as far as I know - you need to check the HTML whichever approach you choose.
