Is there a plugin to put ads in threads and on other places?

you can put your ad codes manually on the header and footer easily. For header-> put your ad code just bellow <navigation> tag.

http://sambarrow.com/mybb-thread-ads-plugin/ -> here you can get a plugin which will show ads on your threads and posts. But I did not use it personally. So cant assure you that it will perfectly work with 1.6.8
