How do i change the colour of the bg .. not the body but the white bit that's ontop of the body if you know what i mean..?

Admin CP > Themes > Modify / Delete > *Your Theme*

Scroll down to the "Page Container" section and find this in the "Extra CSS Attributes" box.

background: #fff;

And change #fff to whatever color you want it to be.
