I wanted to get an idea of what everyone else was doing as far as a welcome banner to help increase user registration.

I think mine is a bit too long/wordy, but here it is:

You need to stop focusing on unimportant technical details. Educate, quickly and concisely, on how your site can enrich the lives of your users.

I like what you've done with your banner..it makes you want to register.

I just went through your thread on "MyBB Humanization Project"...amazing!

I have been running a handful of vBulletin boards for awhile now, and have done about 50% of what you posted in your thread (but not as clean looking). Now I have my first board running mybb.

Some of the forums I run are for non tech types of people, so I needed to make them very easy to use, etc. I have always wondered why someone didn't build a forum sw like the way you laid it out...nice and simple!

Now I need to figure out how to implement some of those things in your thread, like the "Registration" page and the "No permissions/Login" page, to start with...those are perfect!!!!
