I just watched some more tutorials on youtube and they do not show how to install them at all, and they are missing half of the details I need to hear.

The installation instructions on there are difficult for me, as I do not see a "mybb root folder" anywhere.

The MyBB root folder is where you uploaded MyBB to.

So would that be the public_html folder? I am using filezilla

If you uploaded MyBB to public_html, then yes, that's your root folder. It's where index.php, showthread.php, etc... are.
