Right basically i want to scrap the quick log in as it takes up way to much room and my logo will overlap it.
Cant i just have a piece of text similar to the register text that will just take you to a log in page?

just remove the onclick="" JS from the register link in the header welcome guest template... and the link will take you to the login page, same as it would for people with JS disabled
I don't understand.
For example, if there was no quick log in, how would i log in?
Is there not a actual php file to log in so i cant add the code to the text that would say "log in" and direct me to the php
As said above remove onclick="MyBB.quickLogin(); return false;" from the login button in guest template.
Then clicking on login would take you to yourforum.com/member.php?action=login
