I have recently started a forum with mybb 1.6.8 using facebook theme in a subdirectory. Everything seems fine and have completed all necessary modifications and tweaks. Now I wish to take my site live but don't know how to move my installation from mysite.com/mybb to mysite.com
Login to your Admin CP, close the board, change cookie settings, change board url, save everything. After that go to your Cpanel move files from /mybb folder to root and everything should be fine.

No, it's not necessary. Maybe if you want to redirect your url to other but if you are moving it no.
