I'm also struggling with integrating MyBB with Wordpress. They totally conflict.
Do you know whether MyBB 1.8 will have an API or something like that which could make them easier to connect?

There is already a intergrator class but you will have to do all the work yourself.

There are also posts on the internet if you want a "okay'ish" integration like having the option to replace the comment section with a link to the corresponding post on the forums when creating a WordPress article.

I've been looking for something like this too but I only want user credentials from MyBB to work in WP.. nothing more..

As far as I know there are no reliable plugins to integrate MyBB with WordPress, what you could do instead is consider importing your content to a different bulletin board. For example bbPress, a well known WordPress forum plugin, enables you to transfer the posts from numerous forum platforms, including MyBB.
The importing process is quite simple and is described in detail on bbPress website.
