Hello everyone! Is there any way to track the progress toward the next MyBB version? (Whether that is a larger release or a maintenance release.) Or has the release date been released for the next version? I'm sorry if this has been said already!

Thanks!
There aren't any set release dates for anything.

The next maintenance release will probably be 1.6.9 and the next feature update will be 1.8.

Okay, thanks!
You can see the open issues on 1.6.9 here: http://dev.mybb.com/versions/45

As you can see, there aren't that many left to go.

MyBB 1.8's alpha will be released in the next few weeks.
IMO you guys should make a sticky here, we are constantly viewing such threads 3 to 5 times a month.
Thanks to all for the replies and good luck to the MyBB developers! Smile

Will an alpha version be released to anyone who wants to help be a beta tester or will the MyBB team choose specific people to help test?

This is sort of inevitable when you talk talk talk about something and never follow up on it. I appreciate that MyBB is a free project and they shouldn't be bound to deadlines, but if you can't deliver, keep quiet until you can.

A alpha version of MyBB will hopefully be available within the next few weeks. It will be on Github so anyone is free to try it (in a non production environment) and provide feedback on it so far. Smile

An alpha of 1.8 I assume?
