I am still not that sure. I want portal to be the homepage still.. should i leave the portal.php on the root? and move all the forums files to /forums?

So, in Site URL you put http://mainsite.com/portal.php

No i get that. But i am confused about moving the files.
What files should i move to the forum directory?

If you want to change the forum url then you should move the forum folder to the new folder in your server space. But do not forget to update the cookie domain and path settings as well though.

You will need a ftp program to move your files from directory to another. Or you can also use the File Manager section at your host 's Cpanel providing it has one.

About the files you should move the forum files, like I said above.

Also doing a little researching for yourself won''t harm

Yes I did that, then the portal page was giving an error. The threads or user profiles were not working (giving 404 error). I tried researching, but didn't find anything :/
