Those variables won't of been set globally they are only set on index.php & portal.php so you will have to add the code to define them. I am unable to give you the code to do this at the moment when I can I will but by then someone else will have probably have done this already.

Yes active no problem but not editing sidebar.
Look in the plugin and near the top there should be something like
$plugins->add_hook('global_end','plugin_global_function');
the red items can be differnent depending on the plugin/function
