I got done quickly and did this.
This is what I mean by a new button. Obviously you could do more, but this is a basic example I came up with in 10 minutes.

Thanks Snakeyez. I made a button set almost exactly like that. It looks sloppy on the site. Makes it difficult to read. And even though you suggest I make a completely new button..you did the same thing. Which is use the GDK mini image icon inside the button. Personally I think those are good icons and changing the gradient, color, or size is sufficient enough in making the theme unique. None of you have signed up at the site either. When you are logged in you see more buttons. imho they look better as a set..very clean looking.

Another reason I like the icons is that they are specific to mybb. I want people to be able to recognize the software as I am a big advocate of mybb.
I find it odd that I am getting these critics when I have seen themes here with absolute problems and no one even mentions them..such as firefoxwiz's site. His gradients are TERRIBLE looking and need to be redone properly yet no one has told him so.
Anyways...you guys are challenging me to better the graphics and I want to see if I am up to it.

The skin is good enough, but I don't find the buttons good, ok not too bad, but still not looking very good there. I can't make up my mind whether it's the font used (more likely) or the size of the buttons. The color is alright actually!

Actually a font change may be a good idea...let me see what I can find over at dafont. I like a font change better.
Just change one thing: table borders on a darker color maybe a #111 or #222. Or a dark blue, this contrast is not good.
Well...button font changed and I added a fading gradient so the buttons fade into the black background. Personally I think it's 10x better.
Yeah, there you go, it's looking way better than previous buttons if you ask me. Good job!
