In my public_html\.htaccess

I found this:

If I remember correctly, that is supposed to be blank. I don't remember putting anything in there. However, my host was temporarily restricted for a while. Could they have put that there?

that looks pretty normal... compare it with your htaccess.txt file. I doubt the restriction was based on that .htaccess file.. unless I'm missing something..

and if you're on a linux server using apache no... it's not supposed to be blank.

It seems to match what is in my htaccess.txt. What does it do, and should I should leave it there?

It turns off mod_security, enables SEF urls (e.g. thread-131132.html), and compresses forum resources to make the forum load faster.

This was probably done by my host then, since they complained about it using too many resources.
