How many usergroups is to much before your forum starts to lack performance?

I would imagine you would have to have an insane number of usergroups before this would ever become a concern.

Well It is possible to set the forum up how I want it. But I would need to have a total of 25 groups.

I don't think 25 would be too over the top. Only if you decide to have hundreds of usergroups would you start to see some form of performance degradation.

25 groups shouldn't affect your performance by any measurable amount.

i really think it is also dependent on your custom permissions for those groups. a lot of groups and a lot of custom permissions get combined and then you can start seeing performance impacts.

12 out of the 25 are going to be the same. Which is going to just be normal registered. Even if they were custom, I don't think 25 will effect it any based on the answers I received. Thanks everyone!
